As a provider of educational opportunities
for students, The Pacific Northwest Film Scoring
Program does not offer services for professional
productions, filmmakers or composers. Student musicians
who perform on the scores do so for the educational
experience of working in a recording studio environment. |

EUROPEAN SUMMER INTENSIVE
Schedule
The regular cycle of program courses includes Film Scoring III:
Orchestration and Composing to Timings, Film Scoring IV: Dramatic
Composition Lab, and the labor-intensive Film Scoring V: Directed
Study in Film Composition, in which students compose and record
original scores, using a studio orchestra, to accompany student
films.
Due to the abbreviated summer format, we regret that we are unable
to include these advanced offerings as part of the summer program.
Some basic concepts from FSIII will be covered, however.
|
| |
A placement test on the first day
of the program will determine whether a student is
required to take the Practical
Music Theory
for the Contemporary Composer elective the first
week of class before being allowed admittance to Film
Scoring II in the second week of the program. This
requirement is necessary because of the great emphasis
in Film Scoring II on examining scores and discussing
composition techniques, a focus that requires an adequate
level of music theory comprehension. A sample test
and key can be obtained in our registration
cart system.
